Vinyls, Tattoos, Family and Veg Tan - Red Hills Co

This weeks Brute entry is a bit more on the unconventional side of the standard interview. As much as we all love to hear about our favourite brands and their plans, this time around we’ll be talking a few fun facts with someone you may be quite familiar with…well, that is if you’re into premium grade leather accessories, functional design, listening to vinyls, strong Russian vodka and a smoking a fair amount of cigarettes.
Oh, and not to mention, him and his buddy Egor ( aka Twerd mfg) support some of the finest hand made denim attire in their part of the world. If you’ve been floating in and out of the rugged menswear scene over the past few years, you’d probably have guessed it by now.

Full English - Indigo & Goods - The Human Magazine Issue 4

As you may well know The Brute Supply is all about the harder wearing things in life, influenced by post heritage style, denim and the culture surrounding rugged style.

Issue #4 is titled ‘People Are Awesome’. This issue will take a look at humans – a look at the great, the good and the bad that people can do.

I’m an optimist and always like to keep things positive. I decided to focus on a very specific person / brand that has been on my radar for a pretty long time. Within the rugged workwear scene there is a variety of brands who are run by some awesome individuals. The brand Indigo & Goods hits the nail on the head for me, I had the pleasure of interviewing the man who makes it all happen, David.

The Culture of Culture: Denim Through and Through

Once again I've been lucky enough to have a short feature in the third instalment of the HUMAN Magazine. If you've been following along with my previous Instagram content, I've shared links to Issue 1: The Power of Advocacy & Issue 2: What purpose is purpose (sustainability)

Issue 3 is all about The Culture of Culture. It sounds a little bit strange when you put it like that, but you may ask yourself, what is the culture of culture and what does it mean.
Well, as always, I like to keep things simple and interpret them in my own way.

Simple Sustainability - Grand Rappel

Super soft, super sustainable, super smart and sits on the body in a loose yet comfy manner. If you didn't know, bamboo is antibacterial and hyperalogenic, well... you do now. What this basically means is, you're going to look good, and not smell like sh*t when you rock up to your intended destination (AKA The Pub or the regular coffee spot)

True Concrete Matter

From day one you could always find us on markets, for curiosa. At some point we saw a few really nice army jackets and thought this would also fit in really well with the shop. The same goes for workwear. Almost every piece from pike brothers is based on workwear or military. The most attractive aspect about workwear and army apparel is that functionality goes before how it looks. With this mentality you get the best quality product. So the question why vintage workwear and heritage? We like to dive into the history of products, sell garments with the craziest repairs, learn about the history of the products and give them a new life.

Kerbside & Co - LOT 81-01 - Part 2

I travelled a fair bit for the next 18 months and at the end of it, had to decide if I wanted to pursue something that I have put on the backburner or go back to doing a job that has become unfulfilling. You can guess which path I took. A few months later, a bunch of denim rolls ordered from the U.S. arrived and due process started.

001 - Purification - Speed n Style

The speed is awesome, I'm whizzing through the city and handling some of the not-so-smooth bike paths and roads with no problem at all. I used my most recent city adventure as a good opportunity to test out the Veletas ability to respond quickly to my movement. Whilst cycling through a packed tourist-heavy Amsterdam, I was able to make decisions quickly and switch up my route with ease.

Kerbside & Co x The Brute Supply - Part 1

The first detail that caught my eye when taking the denim out of the package was the slubby nature of the garment. Some say most denim lovers are into their smoother and flatter fabrics, I beg to differ when it comes to a pair of jeans like this. I'm no pro, but I've felt enough denim products over the past 5 months to know when I have my hands on something that I really like.
